About
Mark Phelan
I became a Certified Fitness Trainer to expand my knowledge on fitness in order to better facilitate my own training for the various athletic competitions in which I compete. Now that I have a substantial knowledge base and skill set, I offer my services to help individuals, who seek to improve their lives, to do so in a more healthy and fit manner.
Like most, I have been involved in athletics since high school as a part of the Varsity Wrestling team and a Track and Field member competing in the Pole Vault. Since then I have been in the United States Army where my physical limits have been pushed even harder and my personal standard raised.
I have competed in the Bataan Memorial Death March twice, a 26.2 mile race that takes place in the mountains of New Mexico, placing 2nd in 2008 in the Individual Military Heavy Division. I have also competed in the Mountain Man Memorial March, another 26.2 mile race which twists and turns through the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, placing 2nd in 2009 in the Team Military Heavy Division.
These competitions, along with swimming, running, amateur back packing, and various other outdoor activities that I participate in have shown me that fitness isn’t a fad or trend, but a way of life. I am committed to living a healthy and fit life style that values dedication to one’s health and the fitness goals that are set.
A few of my fitness goals are: to participate in more of these Memorial Ruck Marches, which consist of carrying a 45lb pack while running a marathon; as well as events such as the Tough Mudder race, hiking the Appalachian Trail, and maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle while inspiring and helping others to do so as well.
I urge you to make your own goals. Rise up to the challenge of being fit and take control of your health. Together we can make this happen!
